Snook
Snook are one of the newest arrivals of the Nature Coasts, but local anglers have noticed an over abundance in their presence in recent years. Long known as the tropical species of the south whose range would never tolerate our low salinity levels, Snook have finally found their niche and have made a major impact on our local fishery.
The most popular method for targeting Nature Coast Snook consists of targeting these fish while they are in their prime feeding modes at dawn and dusk. Snook are drawn to any type of surface commotion as they take the opportunity to feed on shrimp and small baitfish that are present on the surface. Shrimp, pinfish, and mullet are the preferred baits for targeting this elusive fish, especially when the baits come from the same waters anglers are fishing.
SEASONS VARY BUT THE SLOT SIZE REMAINS THE SAME (28”-33”). SNOOK ARE A CATCH AND RELEASE SPECIES ONLY ON ALL REEL FLORIDA FISHING CHARTERS.
