Fly Fishing

The shallow flats of Crystal River and Homosassa are highly regarded as one of the world’s premier saltwater fly fishing destinations.  For those anglers looking to experience the “pinnacle” of saltwater fly fishing there is no more pristine and diverse fishery on the planet than the stretch of water from Yankeetown to Pine Island, which encompasses the entire Nature Coast.

The rich ecosystem of the Nature Coast is influenced by seven spring fed rivers, all of which feed into the Gulf of Mexico and help to create the magnificent water clarity that our area is known for. The famous flats of Crystal River and Homosassa have a long established history in the game of fly fishing, and the IGFA world records that accompany these areas are second to none along the Gulf Coast.  World Class opportunities to target many of the Florida’s most sought after inshore “flats” species include Tarpon, Speckled Trout, Redfish, Black Drum and Snook, are available year round and the nearshore waters can be equally bountiful as a variety of Sharks, Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Bonito, Tripletail, and even Grouper are all available throughout the year.

Reel Florida Fishing Charters welcomes anglers of all skill levels including both experienced and novice fly anglers. As an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide and the Nature Coast’s only Fly Casting Instructor Capt.
