Capt. Tanner Martin

It has been said that Captain Tanner Martin has had an obsession with fishing since he was able to walk and talk. When your first notable word as a child was “fish” that essentially establishes the obsession level on day one!!

Capt. Kyle Messier had the fortunate opportunity to meet this fishy dude in 2016, as he became the next-door neighbor “kid” once he moved into a Crystal River water front community. After watching this young kid fish and throw a cast net from multiple neighborhood docks that he was TRESSPASSING on day in and day out Capt. Kyle could tell right away that this boy had that 7th sense that most fishy anglers & guides strive for. Truth be told Tanner and his father Randy introduced Capt. Kyle to the great canal fishing within Woodland Estates and for that he’s been extremely grateful.

Let’s fast-forward 7 years and compliment Capt. Tanner on his many early accomplishments. Over the last 7 years Capt. Tanner has graduated from high school, completed his degree in environmental sciences all while playing Division 1 baseball (as a stud pitcher) for Stetson University. During the baseball off-season Tanner spent hours working with in the family pool business and has even put in time helping to remodel waterfront properties in the Bahamas. In other words this kid has put in the work needed to be around water (no matter the source) to help tame his obsession.

Capt. Tanner’s willingness to learn and explore Florida’s Gulf Coast has helped him become an incredible addition to Reel Florida Fishing Charters team. With experiences ranging from the Bahamas to the Keys, to the mountains of North Carolina and far beyond Capt. Tanner has the understanding and experiences to help both spin and fly anglers accomplish personal milestones. His specialties include fly and light tackle fishing for Redfish, Snook, Tarpon, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead and Tripletail and his multiple vessels cater to any and all anglers interested in a true first class fishing experience here along the Nature Coast.
